F.A.Q.

Do you provide labs and ultrasounds?

We have the ability to provide all routine laboratory tests recommended during a low-risk pregnancy and postpartum period.

For official ultrasounds during pregnancy, we have connections to local imaging departments that we refer out to. After the imaging departments receive our referrals, they contact you directly to schedule your ultrasound!

i’ve been seeing another provider, can I transfer care?

Yes of course! The transfer process is as simple as a signature. We will take care of transferring your records from your previous provider to The Special Delivery Co. Schedule your first appointment with The Special Delivery Co today!

Do you take my insurance?

We are in network with a majority of insurance companies in Washington. Because we are so privileged to have a Certified Nurse-Midwife on our staff, we are also in network with Aetna and Tricare insurances. Please visit our insurance and billing page for more detailed information or contact our biller Ingrid Skjelstad directly at 360-632-4435

Birth center or home birth?

We are huge supporters of both birth center and home birth! We want everybody to feel comfortable and safe when and where they deliver. For some, being in the comfort and familiarity of their own home, in their own bed, with their own sheets, and not having to pack their belongings to go deliver is more ideal for them. At home, we come to you, which means not having to breathe through contractions as you're driving, and the convenience of staying in your own bed after delivery.

For others, delivering at the birth center is more comfortable. Each spacious birth room is equipped with adjustable beds, tub, shower, and bathroom. Leaving the cares and responsibilities of home behind and going somewhere that is ready for birth can be more convenient for some. After delivery, you are welcome to linger, enjoy and rest or quickly return home.  We have a welcoming waiting area for family and friends available. The Special Delivery Birth Center is also conveniently located just blocks from a hospital.

But whether you deliver at The Special Delivery Birth Center or at home, you can have peace of mind as two fully trained midwives would be expected to be helping and supporting you through labor and the birth of your baby.

Do you allow water birth?

Yes, of course! All three rooms in the birth center have tubs installed directly in the room. We also have options available for renting a birth pool for home deliveries.

Do we take clients near their estimated due date?

Yes we do! We would love to meet with you and discuss how the transfer process works from your previous provider to The Special Delivery Co. Schedule your first appointment with The Special Delivery Co today!
